ALL EVENTS AT VENICE COMMUNITY CENTER Summer Informal Workshops every 2nd and 4th Wednesday from 9 to 2 (bring your lunch and your name badge) Participate in guild projects or bring your own work.
September 8 – Irene Piggott will show us how to make a simple baby quilt. You can probably get the top done at the workshop. Judy Warasila will supply the fabric requirements. For the boutique, pastel fabrics sell the best. Find a really cute baby print fabric, and add coordinating fabrics.
3 or more coordinating fabrics: 2 for nine patches, and a third for the alternating plain blocks. A print with animals or other baby print is good. You can, if you wish, precut as follows:
5 strips 2 ½” wide
4 strips 2 ½” wide
3 strips 6 ½” wide, then cut into 18 6 ½” blocks
4 strips 1 ½” for frame (you might like to use a different fabric to create contrast for the frame)
5 strips 4” for border
Binding: 4 strips 2 ½” or you can bring fabric from the back for the binding.
October 13- Dawn Hamman will show us how to make a pretty cover for a 5” by 8” note pad. You’ll need: (1) fat quarter for inner pockets (3) 1/8 yard cuts of assorted fabrics, or 13 assorted 5” charm squares 16” by 10” batting 12” by 30” fusible web, such as light or medium weight Pellon 1” of velcro Optional, button for outside of cover 5” by 8” pad
