The Venice Area Quilters Guild founded in 1983 serves nearly 300 quilters in Southwest Florida. The Venice Area Quilters Guild is made up of quilters of all skill levels from beginner to professional, with interests as varied as our experience levels. We strive to promote the love of quilts, to encourage and preserve the art of quilts and quilting, and to share friendship as well as knowledge with others.

The Guild now meets on the fourth Tuesday of every month, September through April, starting at 6:30 PM. Check the Event Calendar for dates and details.

Our Guild year runs June 1 to May 31. To join or renew online, click here Or, download and print the Membership form for the year of June 1, 2023 to May 31, 2024.  Membership Form 23-24.

How many reasons can you think of for joining the Venice Area Quilters Guild (VAQG)? Here are a few:

1. Monthly meetings are in person again with option to watch on Zoom.

2. Each monthly meeting features either a special guest lecturer or a special Guild event (such as the Holiday Dinner or May Pot Luck).

3. First rate classes are offered with both National and International Teachers – both in-person and virtually through Zoom..

4. Monthly-held sewing at an in-person venue (“Stitch Connection”) so you can meet and stitch with your quilting sisters.

5. You can join one of the mini groups, we call them Circles (or, start a new one!) for more fun with your sewing/quilting sisters.

6. You can make Community Service quilts for the underprivileged children in the area. (Such fun to see them surround themselves with their very own special quilt!)

7. You can make a veteran’s day by donating a Patriotic Quilt that you have made. (Many of these are presented at a ceremony for the veterans – a very satisfying experience.)

8. Be a part of the biennial Quilt Show, which raises the funds under which the Guild operates. (This event allows VAQG to supplement meeting lecture and class expenses to provide an exceptional member experience, in addition to the monetary donations made to the local food bank/other charities.)

9. Get involved with the National Quilt Day exhibits and demonstrations to better educate the public about the Guild and get them interested in quilting.

10. If you really love to quilt, you have the opportunity to sign up for the biennial quilting retreat (Quilt Escape) where you can eat, sleep, and quilt for three days/nights without having to cook or clean!!

11. Speaking of access, your membership to VAQG allows you to create your own user ID and password to gain access to all Members Only information on our website, which includes: all newsletters, printable member directories, Circles list, Board and Committees list, Volunteering information, and other special activities and events.

12. Enjoy a fun Holiday Dinner, complete with a Teacup Auction featuring lovely or tasty homemade items.

13. If you are a member, you have privileges with our ‘Sister Guild” Friendship Knot Quilters Guild in Sarasota such as paying "member" rates for their classes.

14. Involvement with and in the Guild activities is optional – but adds a LOT more fun as you can make some wonderful, lasting friendships!

The Venice Area Quilters Guild is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit corporation supported by our members and our biennial quilt show. All gifts to VAQG are fully tax-deductible as outlined by the IRS.
