HOLIDAY TREE LIGHTING - December 9, 2023

Tree.JPG

The City of Venice and VABI (Venice Area Beautification, Inc.) present a Holiday Tree Lighting event at Blalock Park in downtown Venice.

VAQG is once again going to be a part of this community event. The lighting will take place on December 9, 2023, which means we can put our lights and decorations up from November 24 to December 3, 2023. The Sew Whatz group led by Rose Johnson are gathering new ornaments and organizing the decoration of our tree. Our tree this year will be a "Shady Lady" located near the flag pole by the intersection of Valencia Rd. and Pensacola Rd. (From 41, turn west on Turin St., then right on Pensacola. It is the west side of Blalock Park.)

We are in need of new ornaments. The only criteria for making ornaments is to wash the fabrics, and not to use water soluble glue;  that they be no less than 6" in size, and the fabrics be of high contrast and sparkle. You can be as creative as you like! We have two dimensional ornaments in all shapes and three dimensionals such as snowmen, dreidels, angels, Santa Claus faces and appliqués, etc. Make anything that is holiday themed. We would like to have ornaments no later than November 24, 2023 as they need to be sprayed with a fabric protector. Please call Rose Johnson or any Sew Whatz circle member when you have ornaments to contribute. We can pick them up at Stitch Connections, VAQG meetings or we can make arrangements to pick them up from you. We are glad that VAQG will be a part of this fun community event. We always receive such positive feedback on our tree!
